Miss Ashleigh – Fuck You, Fuck You, Suck Cock
“I dont fuck Poets, just Emcees…BUT, these Emcees have been acting like POETS lately! Mu’fuckers asking me to book them for shows lately. I book ‘em, and then they dont want to do it because theyre too good for that. Go put your sunglasses back on (even though its 11 o’clock at night), so we cant see the sadness in your eyes you fuckin FUCK!”
Miss Ashleigh has been pissing off and offending the general public for many years. If you Google her name, you may come across youtube videos of her unique spoken-word performances, various commentary on bullshit, news paper articles and even some nudies!
Thats neither here or there. The latest forum for Miss Ashleigh’s mental riots is The Miss Ashleigh Show on internet-radio station KUMSfm, Friday and Saturday evenings at 6pm. You can never tell what Ashleigh is going to say next. That alone makes her show the most unique of KUMSfm’s line up of hard-hitting shows. You’ll hear subject matter that ranges from smoking weed while having sex, to licking baby-juice off a females face after sex! Last year, she had the one-and-only Brotha Lynch Hung as a special guest…needless to say, she made HIM blush! One listener says, “She’s raw and uncut and she’ll talk about things that people only talk about amongst themselves. When I first listened, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing!”.
This is your warning: If you are easily offended or don’t like sexual or drug related humor, please do not tune in on Friday/Saturday, 6pm Pacific.
“I hope your hearts are filling with hate, as fast as mine does on a daily basis…“. – Miss Ashleigh

Backpackramento
That feeling that Black Moon’s “Enta Da Stage” gave mi while I was stuffing paint cans into mi Jansport backpack, was simply indescribable. Maybe it was the combination of heavy beats, adrenaline, youth and the faint smell of Krylon. Sneaking out of the front door to put mi name on the city walls of Sacramento, beats blasting ( I’m actually surprised that no one ever snuck up behind to rob or arrest mi). The Black Moon tape was mi soundtrack to bombing the city. Every track influenced a different style in which to write.
Such is the case with Sacramento’s own mic controller, Mahtie Bush’s latest LP, Backpackramento. This LP delivers what hip hop purists have been thirsting for since the bling era descended upon us, and emcees, take note, THIS is how to deliver a solid album with alienating your core audience! The album boasts a healthy array of production from such as, Chase Moore, Styles 1001, M.I.Geezus, Mic Jordan, DJ Filth and a slew of others – and special guest features….however, not an overdose of features. Rap (particularly west coast) artists are all-too-focused on having features without first establishing themselves as strong soloists! Cameos from Keith Murray (whoa), Chino XL, The Alumni, Wyzdom of Verbal Venom, Flo Montana and Young Cee are very well selected. Every guest spits flawlessly and isn’t overexposed, leaving the artist room to do what he/she does best; entertain us. THAT’S how you do a solo album, fellas!
The track I cant stop knocking is the third, and one of the strongest tracks, “Get Low”. Paying homage to The City of Trees, the break beat smacks the shit out of you and reminds you that Styles 1001 did NOT come to fuck around! I want to see Mahtie perform this song live and watch the crowd brock-out (I will be right there, going dumb)! “I’m from a place that aint safe, Blacks and Ese’s, Russians and Asians will bury you like Dorothea Puente!” How can you go wrong with that? Slapping the face of those who mock the cultural hip hoppers known as ‘backpackers’.
Backpackramento has something for everyone, including concepts (I know what you’re thinking. concepts in music? weird). From the knocker mentioned above, to disturbing drug ballads like “Doing Fine”. Ladies, Mahtie doesn’t forget about you either! The dance-floor heavy “Yes” (featuring Young Cee, Wyzdom, and Keith Murray) will give you that wind in your waist, while “Out of Reach” is that super-ballad. I’m not really a fan of ballads, but they are an essential component in any hip hop album. Maybe something for you female fans to finger-bang yourselves to…? Finally, “Is She Out There?” is the classic, radio-friendly-finger-banger…and by the end of this track, I’m convinced that Mahtie Bush wants a serious relationship with a girl with healthy masturbatory habits! ha!

Righteous Movement on News10.net
by Edgar Alonzo
Sacramento, CA – If you don’t know who Righteous Movement is then you don’t know the Sacramento music scene. And I don’t mean just Hip-hop music…I mean music in general. These cats have been a part of the fabric of NorCal music for the last 6 years. They’ve been written about and talked about for the better part of those years.
Collectively, they are a group of four MC’s and a DJ/producer. Impressive is the fact that each member brings a very different and distinct presence and style to the tracks that they produce and to their on stage presence. If you heard their material I guarantee that you would have a favorite member of the group. In fact, there’s a favorite member for everyone. These guys are on point and the added plus is that they are very real and very approachable.
Righteous Movement is concious of the greater problems that affect their community and the world at large. Much of this conciousness is reflected in their music in the form of Hip-hop. That’s why I chose to cover them because after hearing about the hype I went out and got some of their music and now I’m a big fan. In their music they beg for more realness in the industry and long for the days of way back when B-boy’s and DJ’s ruled the Hip-hop world.
Right now there really aren’t that many local groups doing what Righteous Movement is doing. At least not on the level and not with the same quality beats, rhymes, and flavour that they’re doing it with. Definitely, check them out because they keep it on the positive and bring it with emotion, opinion and realness. It really is…a Righteous Movement.

a love that’s true (reprise)
a tribute to Slick Rick! I felt the need to record a cover of one of mi favorite songs of his “A Love That’s True”, just for fun. Sometimes other artists have the words that I just dont. The Chorus is original and sang by mi (though I cant sing). Original lyrics Here
