mi favorite childhood books
i just got an itching to blog about this while reading a friendfeed link from fellow interweb inhabitant: Halcyon. mi mother would take mi to the library once a week when we (mi mom and i) were younger. the library was a small one located in our lil neighborhood of Tahoe Park, and has now become a liquor store (wha-???). anyhoo, here were some of mi faves that either ended up being purchased or re-read over and over…

Illustrated by Arthur Robins, Paul Walter
when it was time to have the ol’ discussion about the boids and bees. ma thought it was better to bring home this book, have mi read it without interruption, then talk to her about it. this friggin book changed mi life!

Jill and Gwen are two Sleuths who LoVe solving mysteries. After reading the 1st bookI had to read more! Gwen would tap her braces whenever she was in deep thought, and I LoVed how she would be illustrated with her finger to her teeth and the “tap tap tap tap”
I Had Trouble In Getting to Solla Sollew By Dr. Seuss
Boy, I would get so excited when Mom would read this to mi at night! THIS story was always a great one to mi because –to this very day– I can relate! A youngster is having all sorts of problems. So he decides to slide out to a place called Solla Sollew “on the banks of the beautiful River Wah-Hoo, Where they never have troubles. At least very few.“. But the trip there sucks! He gets bitten, lied to, survives a flood, and even goes to war! By the time he gets there…there is ONE last major trouble. The youngster just decides to grab a bat and deal with his problems! yee!
